Back to the Future (1985) Universal

Written by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale, Directed by Robert Zemeckis

Starring: Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover, Thomas F. Wilson

A hard one to classify: this movie is partially fantastic, and contains a few lessons learned, but is more fun than anything else, so here we are.

Michael is a fairly cool kid in a family of geeks, and lives under the legacy of a few generations of McFly losers. His whacky mad scientist friend, Christopher, concocts an experiment which inadvertently sends our boy back to the 1950`s, when his complacent parents were still frisky teenagers.

Alas, Michael is much cooler than his Dad, as he`d always suspected, and his future Mom falls in love with him, giving all of us severe chills down our spines. Michael meets with a younger version of Christopher, and they scheme to get MJ`s `rents back together and send our boy back to the future, where he belongs, but not before a great deal of timeless teen hijinx and capers go down.

It works, and everyone in Michael`s family is much cooler and smarter when he returns, and his dad`s former tormentor is now a humble and obedient employee.

Trivia: The original star was supposed to have been none other than Eric Stoltz! This would have made it three times that he and Princess Lea were cast together if it had come off as planned. Cameo by Maia Brewton, co-star of TV`s brilliant Parker Lewis Can`t Lose-a legacy given us through the Spirit of Ferris. Also a cameo by the older brother from The Wonder Years.
