The Six Degrees Game

It started nearly a decade ago, in an academic paper on sociology. The idea was that any American could trace a path of connection from himself through friends, co-workers or relatives to any other person, including celebrities. You know-I have a cousin who once worked in LA, who used to party with this girl, who once roomed with the gay hair stylist that gave Tom Cruise his look, etc. You were limited to six degrees of separation between yourself and your target. Get it?

A popular net version of this game began a few years ago, centering around Kevin Bacon, so most people should be familiar with it. (Hint: He`s in here at least twice!) It`s easy...YMP himself works with someone who has played gigs with someone who actually jammed with John Lennon back in the day, so you just know that the stars mentioned here will have some really interesting connections!

Test your knowledge by creating and solving six degrees riddles about FFTTM stars, directors, producers, etc. named on this site. To make it a little easier, one link out of this site is allowed, but only if the reference is fairly well-known. YMP has thoughtfully included several personal six degrees cues for you, the eager Webfan and they count as inside-the-page links! Look, we`ve got to find fun wherever we can these days, and this is good as it usually gets around here...

Sample Six Degrees Riddles:

  • Can you link embarrassed two-time Oscar winners Tom Hanks and Jodie Foster in six degrees or fewer?
  • Can you appropriately hook up identically-initialled major FFTTM stars Jon Cryer and John Cusak?
  • How many Webfans can link supercilious anti-hero James Spader to creepy teen curmudgeon Christian Slater?
  • A difficult two-parter for dedicated Webfans: who are our two male Star Wars veterans, and can you make the proper connection?
  • Answers are available at the end of the insightful Essay on Teen and Twenties Movies which YMP has thoughtfully provided in another section of this Website.
