Odd Jobs (1986) Tristar

Written by Robert Conte and Peter Martin Wartman, Directed by Mark Story

Starring: Paul Riser, Robert Townshend, Scott McGinnis, Paul Provenza, Rick Overton

Four promising, up and coming young stand up comedians ally themselves with FFTTM veteran Scott in this farcicle fable of a quintet of college buddies seeking employment during summer break. They return to their hometown and try their hands in various and sundry schemes, all of which fail.

One night, while crying in their beers, our heroes come up with a plan to start a moving company, since they move themselves back and forth every semester already. However this challenges the established moving company, which just happens to be controlled by the Mob, and which also serves as a front for a car theft operation.

Hijinx and hilarity ensue as our boys receive threats and fight a war of trickery, bribery and petty fraud with the Mob. Guess what-the underdogs win, smash the car theft ring and win a reward. Also Paul R. wins back his old girlfriend from her snobby new boyfriend with his bravery and cleverness in battle!

Trivia: cameos by Julianne Phillips from Summer Fantasy, Richard Dean "McGyver" Anderson, original shock jock Don Imus (YMP prefers Don and Mike), and Eleanor Mondale (daughter of the former Vice President).
