A family of five children is to be left alone as their single mom goes on a well-deserved vacation, but their dreams of freedom are dashed when an elderly nanny is foisted upon them at the last minute. However, she soon dies of natural causes, liberating the younger siblings while forcing Christina to assume responsibility for the entire household.
Our gal performs admirably, surprising everyone-herself most of all. She cons her way into an executive assistant position to pay the bills, and begins to like the adult life she`s now leading. However, the young ones abuse her leniency, and run up large phone and pizza bills while trashing the house. Mom`s scheduled return forces them all to redouble their efforts to repair the damage, both to make their older sister look good, and to truly earn the freedom they all want.
Mom comes back, and is suitably impressed by what she sees: her big girl has grown into a fine young woman in the last couple of months.
Trivia: Christina was then a star of Fox`s Married With Children, and her work rival David would later star in the X-Files on that same network.
