Our protagonist is sort of a nerd, manager of the school store and a cub reporter for the school newspaper. He angers the psycho new student while writing a profile for the paper, and the latter demands satisfaction at the eponymous time in the school courtyard.
He must battle uncooperative colleagues, obsessive security guards and other obstacles to marshall his forces for the upcoming confrontation. When his efforts come up short he steals money from his beloved school store to pay hired muscle in a failed attempt to ward off the bully. He also falsely admits to cheating on a test to shield the psycho and uses the last of the school money to try and buy him off, but the bully still refuses to call off the fight.
Our boy shows up at the appointed time, hoping only to save face and to make up for the theft afterward. However he wins the fight through blind luck, earning him praise and forgiveness-and a grudgingly respectful budding friendship with the new guy, who turns out to be a great deal more intelligent and sensitive than anyone knew. Both combatants learn about themselves-and each other.
Trivia: Cameo by Yeardley Smith. Music by Tangerine Dream.
