Jamie is the newly-named coach of the basketball team at a girl`s Epicospalian high school in the plains states region. She is devout and strong of heart, and feels a calling to this position, but soon runs afoul of the former coach, the male Dean, who`s had to give up his cherished but losing coaching role when the school begins to suddenly grow. Our gal is a little too innovative for his tastes, but her faith and determination soon win his respect and affection.
She brings a more upbeat and creative attitude to the girl`s team, and delivers a type of guidance that the intelligent, well-meaning Dean could never deliver. Jamie has a personal mission here.
Despite a personal tragedy involving two team members, our gals surprisingly find themselves in contention for the regional finals, and then for the State Championship.
Enter Mark-Paul, now an announcer for a cable sports channel, and former boyfriend of our heroine. They are unexpectedly thrown together in the whirlwind of sports/media/hype surrounding the event of the Final Game. Old feelings are awakened, and Jamie is torn between the successful, secular Mark-Paul and the devout and humble Jeffrey, the strict but devout and honest Dean.
Casting these thoughts from her mind, our gal motivates her kids to go out and give 120%, resulting in a one-point victory at the buzzer. Huzzah! Huzzah!
The St. Tammany Miracle having come to fruition, her choice is clear: she stays with the school, her girls, and the man of her dreams.
Comment: This is some sort of independent Christian production, and probably went straight to video, but YMP allows no prejudice on his page, and takes uplifting, optimistic stories wherever he can find them.
Trivia: Mark-paul starred in TV`s Saved by the Bell, where Soliel (aka Punky Brewster) once appeared, trying to steal nerd love-god Screech from his then-girlfriend, nerdette Tori Spelling. YMP has heard that M-P and Soliel also did a TV movie together, but has no independent confirmation. Also, Julie was a co-star on TV`s Growing Pains as Kirk Cameron`s girlfriend for a few seasons. Also, Jamie was a co-star on TV`s Just the Ten of Us, a spin-of from Growing Pains. Cameo by Steve Allen as an apparent angel type of dude overseeing the progress of our main characters. Lastly, M-P and Ms McCollough appeared together on her former syndicated TV series Robin`s Hoods, about recovering gal criminals. M-P was a date-rapist who attacked our heroine, but would later be apprehended by her vigilant sisters. Can you say "six degrees"? (Courtesy of Glennzig)
