Rising teen star John and up-and-coming new director Rob (Spinal Tap) team up for this true classic of the genre.
Our boy, a college freshman from the northeast, who has never been lucky in love is infatuated with a classmate, but he`s a loose and easy type of guy, almost a slob, while she is a bit prim and snobbish. What are their chances of falling in love?
Over Christmas break John hitches a ride from his New England school to California, where an old high school buddy has set up a "sure thing" with a willing would-be model. As it happens, Daphne, the college girl John likes, is along for the ride to see her proper boyfriend in the same vicinity. They fight so much that they must secretly love each other, and get thrown out of the car.
They cooperate to survive and hijinx ensue until they arrive on the West Coast, but fight constantly as each becomes jealous of the other`s lover. When they accidently meet at a big party John and Daphne ditch their love magnets and embrace each other as the true loves they really are.
Trivia: Cameo by pinup star Nicolette Sheridan as the "sure thing".
