He`s cool, he`s an artist (well, a photographer, anyway), dresses mostly in black, and rides a Vespa scooter. Jon, a great hero of FFTTM`s, is on screen here for one of his first times, and acquits himself quite well as a romantic hero. He`s a young man with a plan, but they are interrupted when he spies the gorgeous and mysterious Demi in his camera lens.
Our boy searches all over for the girl of his dreams, and ends up finding her quite accidently singing in a club while having a drink with his engaged brother and his fiance`, the equally enigmatic Elizabeth.
Demi is undestandably hesitant to accept the advances of our hero, given their age difference, but the honesty of his ardour wins her over in the beginning. A couple of dates go pretty well for the young lovers, but they`re not quite in sync. In an attempt to help his gal`s career, Jon buys ad space on all the city`s cabs, but this honest effort backfires due to poor wording, and Demi is embarrassed at first.
They argue and split, but Demi suddenly becomes the most popular singer in town, and her career begins to take off. Jon regains her affection and friendship, and will be repaid the money he took from his college fund which started the ball rolling. Fond farewells are bid at the airport as she leaves, but our boy gets right back in the saddle and hooks up with best school chum Tim and puts the moves on a hot young Jenifer.
Trivia: YMP, as much as he loves Ferris, has long been troubled by how quickly the actor who portrayed Him abandoned the FFTTM genre after that great cinematic feat. The most likely alternative would have been Mr. J.C. himself, for his comedic skills can be quite formidable. In this particular film we see our hero entering his apartment building, which has an awning indicating that it is on Broderick Street! (Coincidence, or perhaps a Divine confirmation of YMP`s instincts?)
