Satisfaction (1988) 20th Century Fox

Written by Charles Purpura, Directed by Joan Freeman, an Aaron Spelling joint

Starring: Justine Bateman, Liam Neeson, Trini Alvarado, Scott Coffey, Britta Phillips...introducing Julia Roberts

Just after high school graduation our girl Justine, the class valedictorian, gathers up her all-female band of New Jersey sluts, druggies and gangsterettes, and off they go, with a neighbour guy as a stand-in drummer, to the Beach for a summer of fun and a chance at a season-long gig to finance their care-free frollics.

They kick *ss at the battle o` the bands, of course, and earn the job. Justine captures the heart of the club owner as well. Liam is a washed-up hit songwriter who squanders his talent with equal doses of alcohol and self-pity, but is magically transformed by her youthful exuberance and passion for life.

Meanwhile, the other gals are hostile toward their new male partner, but soon learn from his superior talent and technique, and come to respect him as an equal. Trials and tribulations occur, summer relationships begin and end, including Justine and Liam, but Rock `n Roll triumphs uber alles.

They had the time of their lives...

Trivia: cameos by Deborah Harry and Michael DeLorenzo
