Our boy Stephen is a freshman geek at an Iowa college, having graduated from that strict Jesuit high school with Andrew, Patrick and the gang, and goes on a glamourous Palm Springs vacation for a most welcome spring break with a couple of older and wiser frat brothers. He considers them friends and mentors, but they have been bought by his doting and protective father, a prosperous pig farmer. Dad will renovate the frat house if the older guys will befriend the young doofus and show him the ropes.
The older guys get into a romantic competition with a couple of brothers from a rival fraternity over the affections of an especially desirable young lady. Meanwhile, our hero seems to be making some progress on his own with a modest coed he met, and who seems to like his innocence and kindness. Alas, she is using him to anger her father, the town chief of police, and our boy feels insulted and leaves out of pride.
The very desirable lady is insulted by the dishonest attentions of all four of the frat boys, and also leaves town in disgust. Guess what? The refugees meet, commiserate and become fast friends (and even more than that). The new couple returns to town, emboldened by their love for each other, and help all the spring break kids thwart the evil plans of the authoritarian police chief to shut down the resort areas of town for reasons of "decency".
The youngsters win the battle, and our hero has proven that he was not a geek, rather that he was an ugly duckling who matured during this period into a full-grown swan. Also, he gets to keep the girl.
Trivia: Cameos by Britt Ekland and John Vernon. Amanda Bearse, the cop`s daughter, was a star of Fox`s Married with Children for its entire run. Also, Stephen, while laying innocently on a bed with Amanda, begins to sing Danke Schoen for no apparent reason-a possible tribute to Ferris?
