Starring: Molly Ringwald, Randall Batinkoff, Kenneth Mars, Mirian Flynn, Conchata Ferrell, Sharon Brown

Young lovers Molly and Randall, both ambitious high school seniors, have plans for the future and for each other: a long distance relationship during their college years at different schools followed by an incredibly happy marriage and family life afterward.

However her unexpected pregnancy thwarts and confuses all the best laid plans of the mousey redhead and her man. When they seem to favor a Final Solution her single mom fights with his concerned and conservative parents, but when they ultimately decide to have and keep the baby, all the adults gang up on the kids.

Suddenly on their own, Randall and Molly pool their resources, rent a modest apartment, get married and wait for the blessed event by themselves. The inevitable fights about money and lost opportunities ensue, and the bill collectors close in, forcing the young couple to move in with her smug, "modern" mother. Tensions rise to the boiling point.

When Randall`s best friend lets it slip that he had actually qualified for admission to his beloved college but could not take Molly and the baby along, she begins a tough love program to push him away to enable him to pursue his dream of an architectural career on his own. As they lied about their ages at their wedding ceremony, it is easily annulled. While she tries to set him free, he does her one better and finds full scholarships for both of them at her favoured school, with suitable accommodations for all three of them!

Everything ends well for our young couple, and Molly finally graduates from high school-it`s about time!
