Our protagonist is soon to matriculate (we all know how painful that can be) and seeks solace in a tavern near his home in order to quietly contemplate his future. Alas, he spots a both a beautiful woman and an unattended sportscar with the keys still inside: what`s a red-blooded young American male to do but take advantage of both situations?
Arriving at his tony new school with both the car and the huge cache of cash secreted within, Gary makes a wonderful first impression, dispelling many of his personal misgivings while becoming the new Big Man on Campus. However the mob had intended the car and money as a payoff to one of their own, and soon comes to campus seeking revenge.
Meanwhile Gary meets and falls in love with a student of the exclusive girls` school nearby, the sister school to his all-male academy, only to find that she is the daughter of his own Dean. The Dean, on the other hand, has potential foreclosure on his mind, and must pass virually all his students regardless, in order to ensure a future customer base, er, student body. Many rich parents want to acheive respectability the new-fashioned way: buying it. The mob, the Campus Colonel, the Dean, and Gary, as de facto student body president, all maneuver for advantage.
A misunderstanding drives our young lovers apart as the mob sends in surrogates to further complicate things. The golden girl is kidnapped and the boys, fighting the old Colonel and a mob faction, rescue her and she is reunited with our hero, as everything works out quite well in the end, both for our boys and for the school itself.
Trivia: Mamie Van Doren, who has a cameo as the school nurse who gives the boys a very thorough examination, was a 1950`s icon of teen rebellion. She was as shocking then as Madonna thinks she is now.
