The former Mrs Bruce Springsteen stars in this rather charming tale of a young woman who needs to answer several questions about her life. Having just moved to the left coast from the mid-west, Julianne must adjust to a new school, new friends, and an entirely different environment. In addition, her long-divorced parents, now living close to each other again, show signs of reconciliation.
Our girl is a talented swimmer, and tries out for a County lifeguard position on a lark, and makes great progress toward becoming the first woman to acheive that distinction. She ends up making the elite team of life-saving public servants, and is partnered with a dreamy, older veteran, with whom she soon forms a romantic bond.
He teaches her the ways of love, and the virtues of maturity, while her honest affection and energy remind him of his younger days.
We are left hanging as to whether they will stay together forever, but they certainly have both had a summer fantasy. Our girl has certainly grown up during the summer!
Trivia: Michael was the father on Family Ties to both Michael J. Fox and Justine Bateman, sister of Jason. John Wesley Shipp is now the father on Dawson`s Creek.
