Major Brit star power, hence this slightly unusual inclusion.
Our hero Jesse is a few years older than our normal cut-off age for FFTTM`s, but his story is quite familiar. He`s a bit sheltered and overly protected by a clutching mother and given no encouragement by an indifferent dad. He`s a skilled hairdresser with a wide and varied social life full of the theatre, the opera and even a couple of token gay friends (this is swinging London, after all!)
But appearances can be deceiving: he`s henpecked at home by the domineering mother, abused by his boss, ignored by co-workers and is wholly ignorant in the ways of love.
Jesse`s comfortable but loveless routine is upset when he meets an older, sophisticated, horny woman at a posh party. At the same time he meets a young, neurotic Noble Lady bent on squandering her legacy, both financial and social, through debauchery.
This only serves to reinforce what his dear old mum has always told him about the dangers of women. However, his eyes have been opened by this little walk on the wild side, and Jesse finally notices his very own cute, competent and creative shampoo girl at work. As it happens, she`s liked him for quite some time, and they become lovers after both overcome initial qualms. Thus emboldened, and feeling like a man for the first time in his life, he proceeds to tell his boss, parents and anyone else to simply p*ss off (the Brit way of verbally giving the finger), earning him respect, a healthy raise and a reason to live in the process: Our boy has grown up.
Trivia: Peter Cook, not well known on this side of the pond, was part of the important Brit comedy duo Derek and Clive in the early 70`s with Dudley Moore (whom YMP loathes passionately, but he did costar with Kirk Cameron once in one of those whacky father-and-son-magically- switch-bodies movies).
